Our Team
Dr. Amanda Houk, DVM
For 12 years, my first dog, Princess, was my best friend. She was the one I turned to when I was sad or just needed a hug. Even at that age, I understood the connections that people have with their pets, so it was no surprise when at ten years old, I already knew that I wanted to become a veterinarian. I spent my high school years volunteering at local vets and animal shelters and loved the challenge that veterinary medicine provided and the animal-human connection.
I graduated from Michigan State Veterinary College of Medicine in 2013 and started working in Emergency Medicine in Ann Arbor. After several years of practicing, I wanted to have the ability to help more people, and I wanted to get back the bond not only with the animals, but with the people as well, so I took over the general practice here in Holt Michigan.
I am grateful to have achieved my lifelong dream and honored by the trust placed in me, not only by my patients but also by the people that love them. I treasure the long term relationships that I develop with my clients as we work together to ensure that the pets they love receive the best care possible and are always treated with kindness, compassion, and respect.
When I am not with my patients, I am at home cuddling with my dogs; Thor, Bruce, Wilma, and Bam Bam or my mischievous cat; Groot. You may also see me at the local gym with my husband Tom, and hopefully once a year, I do like to get away to a warm place!
Ashley Brown, LVT & Practice Manager
Ashley is a 2013 graduate of MSU’s Veterinary Technician program. After school, she worked in emergency medicine for 6 years and has since transitioned to general practice at Willoughby. She is passionate about helping every patient and client that we encounter. She also enjoys the growing relationships and the human-animal bond that we get to experience on a daily basis. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Aaron and fur-kitty Schmidt.
Jessica Adkins, Veterinary Assistant

Taylor Carey, Veterinary Assistant
Hi my name is Taylor Carey, I am 20 years old and have currently been working at WVH for almost two years now. I started out as a receptionist and now have worked my way up into a Veterinary Assistant. Currently, I am a sophomore at Michigan State University studying Animal Science. I absolutely love animals and have 3 cats of my own along with many cows on my Grandparents Dairy farm. Also, I am a part of my family business called CT Performance. I travel around the world to drag racing events and race a CTS-V Cadillac. After college, my plan is to attend Vet School and possibly work aside Dr. Houk one day. I enjoy working here and am blessed with the most amazing co-workers, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Mikey, LVT
Hi! I’m Mikey. I have been a veterinary technician since 2004 and still till this day love it. I moved from Texas in December of 2020 with my 2 beautiful human children and 2 twin MaltiPoo fur babies, Bonnie Parker and Griselda Blanco. My husband and I fell in love with a rescue in August 2021 and named her Rosetta Cutolo.
Megan Green, Veterinary Assistant
Hey y’all! My name is Megan and I’ve been a veterinary assistant here at Willoughby since June 2021. If I’m not here, you can find me outside enjoying nature. I love camping, fishing, and driving anything with an engine. I moved from one small town in Northern Michigan to an even smaller town a bit north of here. I have three cats, Tilly, Tito, and Timon, and a pit mix puppy Jax.
Jordyn Hughes – Veterinary Assistant
Hello, I’m Jordyn. My hometown is Oxford, MI and I moved to Holt in 2020 as I am a senior at MSU studying animal science. I recently applied to vet school and hopefully I am able to continue my education and become a veterinarian. I enjoy being on the MSU shooting team and competing nationally. While not at school or practice, I take care of my pit-mix pup named Atlas and an orange cat named Cheddar.
Taylor Haas, Veterinary Assistant
Hi! I’m Taylor, and I’ve been working as a Veterinary Assistant here since March 2022. I’m graduating from MSU this May 2023, and I plan on working at Willoughby for a long while with all my amazing coworkers. I’m originally from Wixom, MI and moved out here for school. When I’m not at work, I’m usually at home with my 1 year old poodle named Forest! He is an absolute sweetheart and sometimes too smart for his own good — I’ve run out of tricks to teach him!
Thomas Houk, Reception
Hi! My name is Tom, I go by El Tomate. I have been working for Willoughby Veterinary Hospital for 1.5 years. I am excited everyday to come to work with my beautiful wife and learn daily. We are welcoming our beautiful baby girl soon. When I am not at work, I enjoy golfing and spending quality time with my wife and animals — Bruce, Wilma, Bam Bam and Groot.
Danny Martinez, Reception
Hello, I’m Danny! I started working in the Veterinary field about 4 years ago now during the height of COVID. Along the way I was fortunate enough to learn a lot about the field as a veterinary assistant in Charlotte before we had to close down. Now after moving out to the Lansing area, I’m excited to continue my work assisting clients. When not at work I’m usually at the local game store, sparring at the swordsmanship guild, or chilling at home with my two cats Freyja and Artemis.
Madison Montgomery, Veterinary Assistant
Hello, my name is Madison and I have been at Willoughby for almost a year. I will be attending MSU in the fall of ’23 for Animal Science with the intention of applying to Vet school for large animal. I enjoy riding horses and hanging out with my friends/family in my free time. Peaches and Peanut are my two horses. Mack is my doggo and Mini is my kitty. There is so much I have learned working at Willoughby and I cannot wait to continue my education in Veterinary Medicine.
Jessica Hall, Veterinary Technician
